A virus has ended most of mankind. Survivors flocked to a place called Silver City.

Shapeshifters & animals were left unaffected by virus--in fact, they thrived due to the disappearance.
•
Area is divided among 3 sections.
The inner city - bustling with people and thriving much like a city would have prior to the virus.
The condemned city - dilapidated and abandoned, travelling here is discouraged. Hosts wild animals, shapeshifters, and the occasional criminal.
The countryside - from forests to rivers, lakes, and fields, the country side is a constant reminder that Mother Nature has taken back her throne.

The roleplay takes place in 2030, in a place called Silver City. The exact country/location of the city is unknown.
A virus has broken out among humans, causing instantaneous death after 4 weeks to those who were exposed to it. Not all humans died. Shape-shifters and animals were unaffected. The surviving humans flocked to a small metropolitan city by the countryside--a city that had, by some miracle, stayed out of the way of the virus. Most people began to slowly continue their lives as they'd once had them.
That is, till a second sweep of the virus started in the downtown area.The area was quickly blocked off with fences and walls, until the affected died out and the virus went dormant again. Since then, the fences and walls have started to crumble, making the condemned side of the city a bit more accessible.
Enter at your own risk.
Police and city officials discourage any travel to it--especially because it's become home to crime and feral animals. There's something more that lurks in the air there, as well. The city is full of humans, animals, and shape-shifters alike. Some shape-shifters stay human, and others never leave their animal shape. This makes it had to tell who's who in the strange little city.
The mayor, police, and officials of the city want nothing to do with the shape-shifters. They would rather keep what's left of their human world. There is no real public battle out in the streets, but the city is in deep turmoil.
Who do you run with?
Do you tread the streets with paws, never taking human shape? Do you stick to your human body, never daring to let yourself taste true freedom? Or do you simply watch from the streets and the wilderness, mocking the humans and shape-shifters for their petty fights?
Yet still something lurks within the city walls that cannot be explained by modern science. Something paranormal that can be seen one second--yet is gone the next. Beings that alter, protect, and raise hell wherever they go.
