`Once upon a time..[/blockquote][/color]
The roleplay is set in 2030. The world has been swept by a strange virus that only affects & can be carried by humans. The virus caused instantaneous death after 4 weeks. However, not all people died. Some were immune, and others were just lucky enough to evade it. The survivors quickly joined forces, moving to a somewhat metropolitan city on the edge of the countryside.
The city and its residents had been mostly unnaffected, due to the location and how much travel there was to it.
Once there, the survivors started to quickly return to normal ways of life--such as working, living in apartments, driving around in cars and shopping. All seemed well in Silver City--until another outbreak of the virus occurred.
It ripped through the downtown area and someof the outskirts like wildfire. The city residents didn't hesitate to stop it as soon as possible, and put up fences and dividers between the central city and the downtown area until the virus passed. Since then, the fences and dividers have begun to crack and break, causing what is now known as the Condemned City to be accessible. Travel there isn't encouraged and most officials will try to stop you from going down there, but it's still possible.
That being said, the condemned side is rather dangerous at night--specially because criminals tend to hide out there at times.
`There's magic in the air..
Silver City is home to a special kind of human. Shape-shifters. Though not all residents of the city are such. About half of the city may be just be humans, dogs, and cats with no magical abilities. However, it's not like the shape-shifters make their true identities shown to strangers. Some may stay in their human form all the time, while others may seldom use it. They can shift at their own will, whenever they like.
The shape-shifters of the city are in peril. The mayor and most of his officials--such as the top policemen--tend to have anti-shape shifter mentalities. They want the city to be pure human, since they've seen what can happen if the abilities get out of hand and the person loses control.
However, they do not publicly voice this opinion. That being said, they keep their slayer mentality subtle. The best way to explain this is by looking at a 'crooked cop'--they act like good cops, but they're biased in the way they handle things.
Some humans like the thought of shape-shifters, and others despise it.
When you look at a dog, perhaps even keep it as a pet--is that a real dog staring back at you? Or is it something else?
Which side do you take?
Do you choose to roam the streets in your animal form, or your human form?
Are you a human who runs with the animals? Or do you take a stand against them?
`Something's still not quite right..
In the depths of the shadows, something still lurks in the city and the surrounding area. It's in the woods, in the river, in the walls and in the air. When the sun reaches the horizon and darkness starts to fall, something just..changes in the atmosphere. Sometimes the sun doesn't even need to set for the eerie feeling to take hold. It's a sort of sudden stillness -- the scientists of silver city have no reasonable scientific explanation for it, but other people can clearly see this isn't physics at work. This is something more.
`The Reaper
The Reaper is one of the rarest to show its face. From time to time, perhaps once a month or more, it will randomly pick one character who's in a current roleplay and make his gloomy appearance. He's a rather mysterious creature to encounter.
With his jet black coat and his shadowed face, he leaves much to the imagination of what lurks within his hollow heart. He's a trickster and a murderer.
At times he may appear and give a character a message that certain doom will come his/her way. Perhaps this is true, perhaps its not. Other times he will appear and give an unforseen illness which he will name--sometimes lethal, sometimes not. & Other times, he will indeed--as all reapers do--steal the character's life away. The character can argue with the reaper, and he might just change his mind. Other times, the angel might ward him off.
If the Reaper chooses to take the life, he will name the reason of death--and the rest is up to the character and the user to decide how it will be carried out and roleplay it. It does not need to be roleplayed out right away.
Keep in mind, the reaper and other characters are only seen by the character they appear to. Therefore, if they start arguing in mid-roleplay with the creature..it might look a bit odd. (:`The Witch
The witch's intentions are never clear. They tend to be hazy. At times they may seem good, and other times they may seem harsh. The actions of the Witch are completely random, and she ventures into both White & Black magic.
She gives gifts, blessings, and curses -- and at times if the person refuses a gift, she may be midly angered.
She gives all sorts of things, as a means to practice her magic. She may grant a character a change of eye color, a change of hair color, perhaps growth, and sometimes strange, unexplained markings that have meanings hidden within them. (She will explain this)
Other times she may give physical things, such as a lucky bracelet, money.
She may grant elemental powers, such as the ability to cause mild changes in the wind, perhaps the ability to start a small flame in the character's palm..
& Other times she may curse. She may give curses such as the typical werewolf curse where the person shifts into a wolf under a full moon. She may use different animals, and she may use different curses.
The witch's actions are a mix of good and bad--better not try to understand her, just respect her.`The Demon
The Demon is the evilest paranormal creature that lurks in Silver City. He has the ability to possess people and wreak havok wherever he should walk.
He may cause random accidents, such as lights falling or sudden unexplained earthquakes. When he makes his appearance, he's never up to any good. He might play a few tricks such as move visible objects, while keeping himself unseen--and other times he may give random feelings of intense heat or intense cold.
He's known to sneak up on people and tap them on the shoulder, the arm, perhaps try to pull them off somewhere just for the heck of giving a scare. His touch is known to cause shivers and chills.
At times, he may possess people. He will make his appearance, and let it be known that he has possessed a certain person. Once possessed, he will usually stay--but at times he may leave.
From there on, the user may decide when & how the person shows signs of being possessed. Perhaps strange talking in a different dialect, perhaps icy skin and unstoppable shaking, and perhaps unexplained movements and tantrums. All is up to you.`The Phantoms
The ghosts and phantoms of the city are relatively harmless. Sometimes they simply appear to give a spook, other times they may accidentally cause it. They're usually hazy figures, though at times they may be fully detailed yet semi-transparent.
They cannot be touched, for the hand goes right through without a feeling at all--much like a hologram.
Phantoms usually have unfinished business in the past--but in this world where most people have died, they're left behind in the dust without a hope to right their wrongs.
Sometimes they may cause shrill, distant screams. They exist from all ages and sizes. There may be ghost toddlers, perhaps old ghosts, and perhaps even teenagers.`The Angel
The angel is the least dangerous of all the paranormal beings.
There's two angels -- one female, one male. They both randomly appear wherever they may be needed, or perhaps sometimes where they are not.
They hold the ability to protect and heal, sometimes they may give warnings of danger.
Their wings are moderately sized, with long, soft feathers. However, they do not have the typical halo.
From their waist down, they tend to fade into white, glowing smoke--or sometimes they just fade altogether.
