Shape-shifters //

» What happens to the shapeshifters clothing when they shift?

The clothing 'morphs' along with them. Almost like it just disappears into thin air. But when they shift back, the clothing is on them again.

» Can shapeshifters communicate with other animals while in animal-form?

Yes, they can communicate with all sorts of animals while in their animal form. They can also understand the animals when they're in their human form--though 'communicating' wouldn't exactly work unless the animals can comprehend English/other languages.

» Are shifters born in heritage (like parents that are the shifters passing on the ability) or is it a random ability?

Yes, the 'shifter' ability is passed on through bloodlines. The species of animal is not decided through heritage, but it's decided randomly either by luck or by the person's personality. It can be randomly given though. Like if 'The Witch' or one of the paranormal creatures gives the ability as a gift.

» How long does it take a shifter to morph to their other form?

For a shifter who has had the ability for quite a while, it will happen within 10 seconds. (Though that may seem fast, count out 10 seconds in your head).
A morph requiring any more time than that would leave them vulnerable to any attacks. The first shift might be the longest, requiring about two minutes--and the shifts thereafter will get faster exponentially.

» How often can shape-shifters morph?

New shape-shifters will be more worn out when they do so, therefore they may only be able to shift twice in an hour. However, the longer you've had it, the less it wears you out and the more you can shift back and forth.

» Is shifting painful?

It may be described as unpleasant, but not painful. If anything, the creatures get a sudden rush of adrenaline after and feel liberated in a way--which dulls out any strange pain.
